Russia and America

The last confrontation we with Russia ended 26 years ago. What was called the Cold War lasted 45 years, but we actually were in some sort of war since World War I, which started on July 28, 1914. True, the United States did not get into it until April 6, 1917.

Many historians believe that World War II was part of that war (September 1, 1939 – September 2, 1945). The Cold War started two years after WWII ended (1947 – 1991). That means we have been in conflict with Russia (in the hot seat) continually for 77 years. The historians will tell you, the Cold War was not cold at all. Millions of people died in it. I do not think no one knows how many died, but you had the Korean and Vietnam War. There were several others. I will let you do your own research on that. For this article, I am talking about humanity today.

We know how clumsy and irresponsible on how President Donald Trump had been doing his job in our nation. Giving any information that is top secret to them has to be the most damning thing in American History by any leader of our nation. It has compromised the safety and security of the ones that have and will continue to risk their lives to protect our liberties not only in the United States of America but our allies if not the rest of humanity around the world.

Right now, there is no telling the dangers of what will occur due to it. A good deal of Americans if not citizens of the world would rather have Trump impeached from office. I would too, but I will try to wait patiently for more information to surface to see if impeachment should be done. I believe it will happen, but America must allow due process of law to play out. That is who we have been since 1776.

I used the word “humanity,” and it is why this post exists. Like Donald Trump does not represent the people of the United States of America, Putin does not represent the people of Russia. There is nothing wrong with getting along with people of other nations especially while they are under such dictatorships. We are all human beings, and every one of us has the right to be judged on our own merits and demises, and not by the faults of others.

If it was not running into a young 10-year-old girl a couple of years back that made her historical recognition in 1982, I too would have serious negative views towards the Russia people. This young girl was Samantha Smith (http://www.samanthasmith.info/). She did not end the Cold War between our two nations, but she allowed the people of the world to understand we can unite spite our differences. Since the end of the Cold War, we are now in dire straits with Russia once more. It has been around 34 years since Samantha died in 1985, and we need her drive for life once again.

Just by her simple letter to Yuri Andropov, the President of the Soviet Union, it had open the doors between our two nations…

Dear Mr. Andropov,

My name is Samantha Smith. I am ten years old. Congratulations on your new job. I have been worrying about Russia and the United States getting into a nuclear war. Are you going to vote to have a war or not? If you aren't please tell me how you are going to help to not have a war. This question you do not have to answer, but I would like to know why you want to conquer the world or at least our country. God made the world for us to live together in peace and not to fight.

Sincerely,

Samantha Smith

Feel the power behind her last sentence, “God made the world for us to live together in peace and not to fight.” It is true that Trump has not yet started another Cold War or any other with Putin or Russia, but what our President had done by spilling the beans could be devastating in itself. All I can say really is hold that last statement from her in your hearts. Write to your Congressmen/women, make your protests for liberty for all, and all the rest, but please do so with Samantha Smith ideals in your hearts. The American citizens can reform the corrupt government with peace means.
